Boston as a Classroom *

The Advent School’s Beacon Hill roots run deep alongside the residents, small businesses, and cultural institutions that make the Hill so special. Advent families quickly discover that our connection to Beacon Hill is not just historical—it is alive, reciprocal, and woven into daily experiences.

At Advent, Boston truly becomes an extension of the classroom. Students walk to DeLuca’s Market to apply math skills in real-world contexts, and visit the Public Garden and the Esplanade for science explorations, art inspiration, and physical education.

In February, Advent students and parents collaborate with Beacon Hill Books & Cafe to display recommended reading for Black History Month.

In May, retail businesses proudly display student artwork during the school’s annual Art Stroll.

IThroughout the year, classes travel across the city to the Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, the Freedom Trail, the Black History Trail, branches of the Boston Public Library, the Massachusetts State House, and more, documenting their visits on a community display in Advent’s Family Center.

This connection to the city offers something extraordinary: a school that is both intimate and expansive, rooted in community and rich with opportunity.
