Enrichment takes on Destination Imagination

Through Advent’s After-School Enrichment program, Advent's Destination Imagination (DI) team, The Awesome Imaginative Lions, recently competed at the Massachusetts DI State Tournament. DI is a global creative problem-solving competition.

Ms. Sophie, Advent's DI Team Manager, competed in DI when she was in elementary school. This year, Advent's team chose the Engineering Challenge, "Roll With It." The team wrote a story about how a character becomes a legend, built a structure that rolls on wheels and supports weight and designed a rotating object using technical methods. It was a big task, but our team knew that teamwork and creativity are the keys to success in DI.

A Fourth Grader shared, "We all worked on things that we believed we were good at. We came together as a kind community as we worked and helped our peers. We tried out different ideas to maximize supreme awesomeness.”

Since September, the DI team has been working together to create their unique solution to the challenge. After all of that hard work, the team was able to show off their solution at the competition on March 12. We couldn't be prouder of their hard work, flexibility, and can-do attitudes this year!! "

DI provides many different challenges: technical, scientific, engineering, fine arts, improvisational, and service-learning.
