This year's Design at Advent Summer Program Themes are:

Puppet Engineering: June 20 - June 30

Inspired by the Puppet Showplace Theater and the work of famous puppeteers, including Jim Henson and Frank Oz, the designers in this session will:

  • EXPLORE various types of puppets and manipulatives.

  • ENGINEER puppets to be set in motion.

  • DESIGN costumes and sets to put on a production.

Biomimicry in Boston: July 10 - July 21

Inspired by the processes found in nature, designers in this session will:

  • IMAGINE a Boston more influenced by nature

  • DISCOVER how nature has influenced art, architecture, and design

  • CREATE buildings, vehicles, and modern inventions that use nature to solve human design challenges

Woodwork Wonders: July 24 - August 4

Inspired by one of the world's most versatile materials, designers in this session will:

  • LEARN tool safety and building techniques.

  • CREATE in a variety of wood-based mediums and styles.

  • BUILD vehicles, buildings, playgrounds, and more!
