As the School continues to grow and change, so does the structure of our Administrative team. In addition to the changes announced this spring, I am pleased to share the following updates for the fall 2016 academic year.

In March, I shared the news about Nora Goddard as Advent’s new Director of Admission and Next Schools. A key component of Nora’s roles is to advance the School’s mission in the community. For this purpose I have created an Advancement team that will manage the School’s communication, marketing, and fundraising efforts.

Director of AdvancementAbigail Hayhurst has accepted the position of Director of Advancement. In this role she will oversee the fundraising and communication efforts for the School. This position builds off her current role as Director of Communication and her background in fundraising. In her one year at Advent, Abigail has honed in on the pulse of Advent, capturing it beautifully in writing, pictures, and video. Through social media and blog posts, the creation of a new and improved website, and partnerships with community members to create video content, Abigail reinvigorated the School’s image. In her new role, Abigail is looking forward to working more closely with families to learn about their Advent journeys and to continue to champion Advent’s mission.

Data Services ManagerSupporting Abigail and Nora will be Doug Surgenor as Advent’s Database Manager. This newly created role takes advantage of Doug’s database-building experience. He is responsible for creating Advent’s current student database and will work on projects relating to admission, development, and alumni outreach. Doug is eager to support the School in this new way. During his five years, Doug has become the face of Advent. With his infectious smile and laugh, he welcomes new and returning families, adding to the joy felt as one enters the building. He cares deeply about each of your children and supports our faculty in countless ways. Doug is excited to think more strategically about the advancement of the School by providing increased operational support. Doug will continue to be at the desk in the mornings during drop off.

Administrative CoordinatorPlease join me in welcoming Jen Senna to the role of Front Desk Administrator. Jen has worked in Advent’s after-school program for the past year, teaching the ECC and Kindergarten classes, including music makers and arts and crafts. Prior to coming to Advent, Jen worked at City Year in Washington, D.C. as a Fourth Grade teaching assistant. She has her AA from Cape Cod Community College and is currently completing her BS in Leadership at Northeastern University. In her time as an after-school teacher Jen has “fallen in love” with the Advent community and is excited to support the students and families in a new way.
