Apply to Advent

Online Application & Application Process

Step 1: Inquire Online

Please complete the online inquiry form, powered by Ravenna. By completing this form, you are requesting additional information from the Advent Admission Office, and will be added to the mailing list of prospective applicants for the academic year indicated. Nora Goddard, Director of Admission & Next Schools, will follow up to introduce herself to you and to share additional materials with you about The Advent School.

Step 2: Schedule a Parent Appointment & Tour

Parent meetings begin in October 2017 for families interested in Fall 2018 entry. A parent appointment with our Director of Admission provides an opportunity to ask your questions about our program and share information about your child as a learner. This visit includes a tour to see our School in action. Please contact Nora Goddard, Director of Admission & Next Schools, at (617) 742-0520 × 15 or via email to schedule an appointment.

See the Admission Events page for additional opportunities to visit Advent.

Step 3: Apply

Apply Online

We continue to accept applications for the 2017-18 school year on a rolling admission cycle.

The application for Fall 2018 entry will be available on Friday, September 8, 2017. It is due by Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

Click on the button to complete our online application through Ravenna Solutions. When you arrive at the page you will be asked to create an account, at which point you will be able to look up The Advent School in Ravenna’s School Directory and complete the application. For any technical questions about Ravenna, please contact them directly by following the instructions on the login page.

Please mail the required application processing fee of $50.00 (address checks to The Advent School) to:

The Advent School
Attn: Office of Admission
15 Brimmer Street
Boston, MA 02108

At this time we do not accept online payments for application fees.

Teacher Recommendation & School Report Deadline
The Teacher Recommendation Form is available online through your Ravenna account. You will be prompted to input an email address for your child’s teacher. If you are not completing the online application, please contact Nora Goddard, Director of Admission and Next Schools for paper copies of the Teacher Recommendation Form.

Report cards or progress notes can be uploaded directly to Ravenna by your child’s current school or sent directly to Advent’s Office of Admission via email.

All School materials are due by Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

Step 4: Student Visits

Upon receipt of your application, we will contact you to schedule a mutually convenient classroom visit. ECC and Kindergarten applicants visit twice: for an individual play based assessment (30 minutes) and for a classroom visit on Saturday, January 20, 2018 (1 hour). First and Second Grade applicants visit for half a day (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) and Third through Sixth Grade applicants visit for the whole school day (8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.).

All School visits should be completed by February 2018.

Optional Step 5: Complete Financial Aid Application

Advent requires the Parent Financial Statement submitted online to the School and Student Services at sss.nais.org, copies of most recent (2017) Federal Income Tax Returns, year-end pay stubs, and 1099/W2s be submitted to: The Advent School, Attention Office of Admission. Advent’s school code is 1123. Visit the Tuition & Financial Assistance page for more information about tuition rates and the financial aid process.

Financial Assistance applications and all supporting documents are due by Friday, February 9, 2018.

Admission Decisions

Admission decisions will be made pending available enrollment within the applicant’s grade. Decisions will be mailed home once all requirements are completed and reviewed, on a rolling basis.

Families will be notified of their child’s admission decision via Ravenna on Friday, March 9. Decision letters are mailed then as well.
