Boston has been selected to host The Wonder of Learning exhibit and The Advent School is proud to be a leading sponsor!

The Wonder of Learning is a traveling exhibition from the schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The exhibit highlights the pedagogical practices of the approach and seeks to engage all stakeholders – teachers, families, children, and the general public – in reflecting on the possibility of education for even the youngest of children.

From the Wonder of Learning website: “The exhibition is proposed as a democratic square or piazza. A place for dialogue and to:

  • affirm the right to education and learning
  • highlight an idea of schools that choose an ‘ecological’ approach; inter-dependency, co-existence and co-participation in building culture
  • recognize the hundred languages as an extraordinary potential in children and human beings, which transforms and multiplies during journeys of knowledge and relations
  • declare an idea of participation in education oriented in the direction of creating an intercultural dynamic and all these reach towards the construction of a new idea and new experience of citizenship.”

The goal of the host organization, BARIN (Boston Area Reggio Inspired Network), is that the exhibit serves as inspiration and impetus for change. As they explain, it is “a bold plan to educate 15,000 educators from the heart of Boston and beyond so that they are empowered to provide the highest quality programs for children.”

From June 2018 to November 2018, Wheelock College will house the exhibit on their Boston campus. The exhibit is free and open to all. During this time a variety of professional development and learning opportunities will also be offered for teachers, school administrators, policy makers, and families.
